Houshang Seyhoun attended the School of Fine Arts in Paris during the late 1940s after earning the “Grand Prize of Paris” from the School of Fine Arts in his native Tehran, Iran. In Paris he also joined the Defrasse-Madeline-Zavaroni Atelier (workshop).
Seyhoun put his love and imprint on everything. He knew how to change things to show off their natural beauty. He put the best of himself into all of his works, thus realizing the message of the "Table d'Emeraude" (Emerald Table):
"Know yourself well and you will know the earth and the Gods.
For what is on high is like what is on earth, what is on earth in like what is on high,
to make wonderful things out of the same material."
